The painting that I did of Nick is an oil on canvas and is 18x 24. I really liked the flow of all the water and the expanse of lake that gives the canoeing more of a feeling of space and the feel of the north without feeling closed in. Because I chose to have more of a distant scene as was in the photo it made it very difficult to do a real detailed portrait of Nick. So I chose to leave the painting of the face particularly the eyes in shadow as in the photo that was taken on the lake. I really wish I would have done this painting larger so the face would have been about 2″ rather than the size it is—head size is approximately 1 and 1/4 inches. If you chose not to purchase this painting would you at least tell me what you liked about it and didn’t like. It really helps us artists to become better artists. Thanks for your consideration.

I forgot to mention that the painting does not include the frame. It is one I just had in the studio and I thought it would look nicer to picture it with a frame. Because an oil requires no glass or mat all you have to have is a frame to slip it into so you have much less in framing costs. I like Hobby Lobby or Michaels for buying standard size (18×24″) frames. Especially when they are at 40 or 50% off, which is quite often.

It looks beautiful! Would like to see more of a close up shot of Nick and the canoe if possible. It doesn’t enlarge enough on the computer for me to really focus on Nick in the canoe.
Thank you for taking the time to paint our precious Nick.

    Hi Judy,
When you get the picture on the screen you can push the Ctrl button on your keyboard then at the same time push the plus + button on the keyboard and you can zoom in on the photo. Continue to push the plus button and the photo gets closer and closer. I just recently figured this out myself! If you can not get this to work, let me know and I will repost. to get the picture back down to normal size push the ctrl button and the – button at the same time. Let me know if you get it to work.

    Hi Adele,
I did get it to work. Thank you. I will show my husband tonight. It was a little blurry as it enlarged. It looks like you captured somewhat of a good likeness of Nick. It is a beautiful painting and I do appreciated you taking the time to paint Nick.
